Funeral details for popular owner of Peterborough launderette who died in Skegness collision announced

The funeral for the popular owner of a Peterborough launderette is to be held next week.

Richard Thomas, who was known by many as Dick, passed away last month at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham having been struck by a car on a pedestrian crossing in Skegness.

Richard (78) ran the launderette in High Street, Fletton, and was contracted to do the dry cleaning for many Peterborough businesses.

He also carried out a door-to-door service.

Richard, who previously ran a launderette in Woodston, was well known in the area and went into Jinja’s Express on a daily basis for a cup of tea.

The dad of two was born in London and served in the army.

He leaves behind his son, who is also called Richard, and his step-daughter Marie.

Members of the public are invited to the funeral which is being held on Wednesday, September 19 at Peterborough Crematorium in Mowbray Road, Bretton, from 11.30am, with the congregation then heading to Jinja’s in High Street, Fletton.
