Four people rescued after A1 and A47 crashes in Peterborough

Four people were rescued from vehicles after crashes on the A1 and A47 in the Peterborough area yesterday (Tuesday).

Two people were rescued by firefighters after a crash on the A1 near Norman Cross at around midday, with both of them then left in the care of the ambulance service.

An air ambulance was also called to the scene.

A police spokesperson said a man and a woman were taken to hospital with serious injuries with the crash involving one car which is believed to have collided with the central reservation before coming to a stop on its side half way up a grass bank.

However, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said three vehicles were involved.

Then later in the afternoon, at around 4.30pm, firefighters rescued a person after a two vehicle crash on he A47 near Wansford.

The person was also left in the care of the ambulance service, while a second person had been rescued before fire crews arrived at the scene.

The road was closed while recovery took place.
