All the proceeds from the dinner will go towards the cathedral’s Peterborough 900 Campaign which is raising funds for projects which will enable the cathedral to offer a more hospitable space to its visitors and worshippers, leading up to its 900th anniversary in 2018.

Sir John held the position of Prime Minister from 1990 until 1997. As a Member of Parliament he represented the constituency of Huntingdon from 1979 until 2001.

The date of the dinner will coincide with Her Majesty The Queen’s Official 90th Birthday celebrations and during the evening the Peterborough Cathedral Choir will mark the occasion by singing a selection of choral music associated with royal events.

This dinner is one of only a few to take place in the beautiful setting of the cathedral nave each year. It is open to both companies and individuals who would like to attend.

The Dean of Peterborough, The Very Reverend Charles Taylor, said: “We are delighted that Sir John is able to join us for this very special occasion as we work towards our 900th anniversary in 2018, which is a significant event not only for the cathedral but also for the city of Peterborough.”

Tickets for the dinner are £100 per person or £900 for a table of 10. They may be purchased via the cathedral website at http://shop.peterborough-cathedral.org.uk/john-major.

There is limited availability and early booking is advised.
