Ando Todisco, who lived in Newborough passed away suddenly while playing football in 2013, and Brian Topham, who passed away last year, will be remembered at the Topham Todisco Funday on Sunday, June 28 at Langtoft Football Club, Manor Close, next door to the primary school.

Last summer, the Ando Todisco Football Tournament was organised by Ando’s wife Estella and his close friends.

It was a celebration of Ando’s 25 years in local football and the day raised over £2,350 for The British Heart Foundation and Langtoft Football Club.

This year, the event has been renamed in memory of Ando’s one-time manager at Langtoft Football Club, Brian Topham.

Fifteen six-a-side teams will compete for the the Topham Todisco Football Shield in 10 minute matches and all proceeds from the day will go to the British Heart Foundation, Langtoft United Football Club and the Langtoft Park Zip Wire Fund.

The event is open to everyone and, in addition to the tournament, families can enjoy a fete, bouncy castle, spot the ball competition, football skip challenge, a penalty shoot-out, tombola, refreshments (including cake and cookies) and an all day grand barbecue.

Estella Todisco said: “Last year’s event was fantastic and the money we raised in just one day was a massive achievement. This time around we will be remembering Brian too and it promises to be even bigger and better.

“We’re adding more activities and attractions and I would like to thank the generosity of everyone involved in every aspect of this occasion from donating prizes, baking cakes and organising the football to helping me with signage and the event programme.

“There’s still time to be part of it and help us raise money. We want to make it a day for everyone and most of all we want to do it in a way that I know Ando and Brian would have approved of!”

Matches will be played on three pitches and kick-off is at 10.30am.

The event is free admission and opens at 10am until 4pm.
