Fire crews tackle midnight factory fire in Peterborough

Fire crews were called to a blaze at a factory in Peterborough in the early hours of this morning, Monday July 25.

Crews from Dogsthorpe, Stanground and Peterborough Volunteers were called to the fire at a commercial premises in Welland Road, Dogsthorpe at 12.01am.

A fire had broken out on the first floor of a factory, involving a flour roller/grinding mill. The mill was 10m wide, 50m long and 40m high. Firefighters used hose reels and 15 C02 extinguishers to put the fire out. Smoke logging was also caused to three floors.

The crews returned to their stations by 2.35am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
