Fire crews tackle accidental van fire on parkway

A van fire which caused a section of the Frank Perkins Parkway in Peterborough to become smoke logged is being treated as accidental.

Crews from Stanground and Dogsthorpe were called to the southbound carriageway of the road, just on the slip road by the Perkins building, at 8.10pm on Saturday (December 29).

A hedgerow which also caught fire left the southbound carriageway heavily smoke logged, a spokeswoman for the fire service said.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire and crews had returned to their stations by 8.45pm.
