Festival for working women

An International Working Women's Day Festival was held at the Town Hall last Saturday.

Among the groups showcasing their work were the Communications Workers Union for the Eastern Region which was represented by Linda Roy, Sue Lewis, Sally Cohen, Esther Robertson and Kate Jackson.

Linda, national equality officer, said: “We are trying to empower and inspire women as a trade union.”

Faustina Yang was representing Peterborough Mums UK. She said: “We were set up to support mums and share information and experience.” Faustina was also discussing Hampton Tiddlers which runs for mothers and their children at the Tesco Community Room in Serpentine Green Shopping Centre on Mondays, 10-11.30am, and Thursdays, 2-3.30pm.
