Tesco Extra Hampton and Tesco Werrington collected food for Peterborough Foodbank; between them, the two stores collected three tonnes of food, which will help support local people across the Peterborough area.

Donations made to Peterborough Foodbank, who are powered by The Trussell Trust, are used to provide three days of nutritionally-balanced, emergency food to people in need who have been referred by frontline professional agencies, such as Citizens Advice or children’s centres.

Whilst at the Foodbank, clients will be welcomed, listened to and signposted to services that can provide support to address the underlying causes of their crisis.

Tesco top-up all customer donations by making a 20 per cent financial contribution, which helps The Trussell Trust Foodbanks provide important support, beyond food, to tackle the root causes of poverty.

Tesco continue to take Foodbank donations throughout the year, with a permanent collection point based at both Hampton and Werrington store. With 13 million people in the UK living in relative poverty, every can helps!
