As part of the annual Zero Waste Week challenge last week, a number of residents braved the chill to take part in a litter pick which began behind Asda in Rivergate.
The challenge is run by Investors in the Environment and calls for businesses, households and members of the public to help the environment and reduce waste to landfill.
The hardy litter pickers began their clean-up at 4pm on Wednesday last week and got to work along the river as they delved into hedges and bushes to tidy up the area.
All bags, gloves and pickers for the session were provided by sponsors IKEA Distribution.
Investors in the Environment, a nationwide environmental accreditation scheme, was launched in 2010 by the Peterborough Environment City Trust.
