THE Liberal Democrats have held their seat in Huntingdon North at a councilby-election.

THE Liberal Democrats have held their seat in Huntingdon North at a councilby-election.Trish Shrapnel was elected onto Huntingdon Town Council after securing 243 votes.

She was followed closely by Conservative candidate Laine Kadicwho got 213 votes, Labour candidate Ann Beevorcame third with 123 voteswhile Peter Ashcroft got167 votes for the UK Independence Party.

The electionwas held last Thursday and the turnout was just 19 per cent. It was triggered by the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Sam Kemp.
