As a result the academy is expecting a significant rise in its Progress score, the measure which schools are now ranked, when they are published in the autumn term.

“We are delighted that we have secured a significant improvement of good passes at Level 5 and above. All staff at the academy have worked incredibly hard to secure an improvement in grades across subject areas.

“We have so many incredible students at our academy and it is amazing to see students who only joined Queen Katharine Academy in the last year achieving such impressive results and attaining grades that are Level 4 and above. This is thanks to the students’ hard work and the vital support of our staff.

The number of pupils achieving Level 4 and above in English and maths has remained in line with the academy’s results from last year at 32 per cent.

Top performers included Sebastian Gluch, who achieved the highest grades in Spanish, Polish and music and achieved four 8s and two 7s.

Andrei Dobrica also excelled, achieving a 9 in biology, chemistry, physics and Spanish and two 7s, one 6 and a B.

Maiya Howell achieved 7 and above in English, music, history and geography, and Hiz Sabir secured the top grade in business with 7 and above in chemistry, biology, physics, computer science and maths.

Tamzyn Bendall achieved 7 and above in Spanish, English and maths, alongside six 6s.
