Driver seriously hurt after two car crash on main Peterborough road

A driver was seriously injured in a two car crash on the A47 last night.

The incident happened on the stretch of road near Thorney at about 5pm, and involved a black BMW and a blue Ford Focus.

Police, fire and rescue and ambulance crews were all called to the scene.

Fire crews used specialist cutting equipment to release one man from the wreckage.

A police spokesman said; "

We were called at 4.30pm yesterday (19 January) to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A47 at Thorney. The collision involved a black BMW and a blue Ford Focus. Officers attended, together with paramedics and one man was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries."
