A popular restaurant in Peterborough is poised to move to larger premises to cope with growing demand from its customers.
Dessert restaurant Tamu will move from its current premises in Broadway into a three story outlet at 11 to 13 Cowgate early next year.
The move comes in the wake of a stunning success for Tamu, which at times has struggled to find room for all its customers.
The current premises has 23 seats downstairs and a few more upstairs.
But the owners say with current demand they need to be able to seat about three times that number.
Salim Remahtullah, of Tamu, said: “We are delighted to have secured this property as we look to grow our business.
“Our Peterborough customers can expect to see the Cowgate venue open in early 2016.”
And he added: “We are looking at a number of other locations in the region as we hope for continued growth in the coming years.”
Tamu has agreed a 20 year lease on the property, which totals 2,595 sq ft (251 sq m) over the three floors.
The lease has been arranged by commercial agents Savills, acting on behalf of a property fund that owns the building.
Edward Gee, of Savills Peterborough, said: “Situated at the heart of Peterborough city centre and benefitting from a prominent position in a popular retail location, the property provides the ideal site for the restaurant to expand into.
“We are very pleased to have secured this letting to Tamu on behalf of our client and also to see another local company growing at such a rapid rate.”
