Horse-lovers gathered in Peterborough to enjoy a traditional day out at the start of the year.
The Peterborough Horse Fair, held by the travelling community, took place at the Fair Meadow Car Park in Oundle Road on January 2.
Visitors said to number between 200 and 300 enjoyed blue skies to spend the morning at the Peterborough City Council car park with the animals.
Close to 100 horses were on display for people to see close up with some being ridden around by their owners.
Customers could even buy and sell horses should they wish to.
The event’s organiser, Jack Cunningham, was pleased with the turnout and wanted to thank the council for their help in allowing their car park to be used.
“It’s all gone well, everybody enjoyed the day,” he said.
“I could not have asked for better weather.”
For a long time the event was held on New Year’s Day, but last Friday was the second year running that the travelling community held it on 2 January.
The decision was made in order to avoid a clash with the New Year’s Day football .
The fair began at 7am and finished around 2pm.
Jack added: “The fair is something we always look forward to.”
