A woman was pushed to the ground and had her purse stolen in a robbery in Stamford.

The mugging happened in the early hours of the February 21 in Cambridge Street. The woman, aged in her 40s, was walking home from Brown’s nightclub between 3am and 4am when she was pushed to the floor by the robber. The woman has sustained minor injuries to her face and knee. In the scuffle that followed the man took the woman’s purse which fell from her bag. The purse contained some coins and a bank card.

PC Sian Farmer said, “We want to hear from anyone who saw the incident, or believes they have information about the offender. Similarly if you saw the woman walking home we would appreciate any information you have about where and when, as we want to get a clear idea of the timeframe within which the incident occurred. This was a frightening ordeal for the woman and a rare occurrence for Stamford so we hope that encourages people to come forward if they can help with the enquiry.”

Anyone with information should call Lincolnshire police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
