'˜We've never had anything like this' - Crown Lakes owner reacts to damage by vandal

The spate of vandalism in Peterborough's open spaces moved its way to Crown Lakes Country Park near Farcet on Monday evening (February 20).

Roger Tallowin said repairs to the broken benches and hand rails will costs thousands of pounds, while trees have also been cut down.

He said: “Crown Lakes has been open since 1997 and we’ve had many bits and pieces but never anything like this.

“All they are doing is taking away the ability for the community to benefit from the space being provided to them.”

Mr Tallowin added: “It’s a secret gem really. It’s a tranquil oasis of piece and calm.

“We have provided this space for 20 odd years at no expense to the public. It’s been solely funded by O&H and we do it for the public’s benefit.

“The residents of the area are very good and vigilant at reporting anything, and I would encourage them to take photos and send them to us or the police, but only if it is safe to do so.”
