Tuesday, 2.40pm: The man who found the body of a murdered Peterborough man in a ditch in Newborough at the weekend has spoken of his grim discovery.
Terry Palmer (68) was out his walking his dog near Middle Road in Newborough on Saturday morning when the animal picked up a scent.
He followed it to a ditch in a field where he came across the body of Kevin Lee (48), from Fletton, who had been stabbed to death.
Mr Palmer said: “I never would have found it if it weren’t for my dog, you couldn’t see the body from the road.
“At first I thought it was a dummy, it was lying face down in dyke.
“But then I noticed there was blood on the man’s sleeves and I decided to call the police straight away.
“The location is very isolated. Only dog walkers like myself ever come up here.
“I’ve lived in Newborough for over 30 years but never seen anything like this before.”
