A man was left unconscious on the ground after a fight with a group of youths who had chased him through Whittlesey.
The man in his 20s was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his head and arm following the incident on Tuesday evening.
Wine bottles were said by witnesses to have been thrown at the victim although none are believed to have hit him.
Cambridgeshire police were called at 5.47pm to Manor View, Whittlesey, at the junction with Station Road.
Witnesses say a man in his early 20s, wearing a red hoody, was chased by approximately eight white men aged around 14 to 19.
A fight then broke out, resulting in the group running off towards the town centre.
The man in his early 20s was left lying unconscious on the ground.
The group of men included one with light or ginger hair who was wearing all grey and another with blond hair who was wearing a black tracksuit.
Another was wearing a black hoody with white writing on it and another was in a white zip-through hoody.
No arrests have been made
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said the man’s injuries did not appear to be serious, and certainly were not life threatening.
He added: “We were called just before 6pm to Station Road. The man had injuries to his head and arm. He was treated at the scene then taken to Peterborough City Hospital for further treatment.”
