UPDATE: Man stabbed multiple times in the neck in Stamford pub

A 53-year-old man has been taken to Peterborough Hospital with stab wounds after an incident in a Stamford pub.

At around 12.30pm today, Sunday 12 June, a local 53-year-old man received stab wounds to his neck while stood in the St Mary’s Vaults Pub, St Mary’s Street, Stamford.

He was taken by ambulance to Peterborough Hospital and has been discharged following treatment.

Detective Inspector Simon Bromiley, said: “This appears to be a premeditated attack in a busy pub where the victim has sustained multiple wounds to his neck. Thankfully his condition is not life threatening. I would urge anyone with information to make contact.”

A 45-year-old local man has been arrested in connection with this assault.

Anyone who was in the St Mary’s Vaults pub or outside on St Mary’s Street around 1230 on Sunday 12 June and has any information that will help the police investigate this assault is asked to contact the 101 non-emergency number or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
