A magistrate will stand for election to become the Police and Crime Commissioner in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Paul Bullen, who sits at Huntingdon Magistrates Court, has been announced as the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) candidate for the election later this year.

Mr Bullen said he believed the criminal justice system was too weak on criminals, and said he wanted a bigger police presence on the streets.

The election will take place in November, and other candidates include independent Ansar Ali and Labour candidate Ed Murphy.
