Two police cars damaged and four officers left with minor injuries in collision after pursuit of car in Peterborough

Four police officers were injured in a collision in Peterborough city centre following a pursuit of a suspicious car.

The incident happened in Lincoln Road at just after 4pm on Saturday (July 8) and two police cars were damaged in the collision with a vehicle they were pursuing.

Insp Matt Bill of Cambridgeshire police said the incident started in York Road.

He said: “A police traffic car attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle which failed to stop, which then began a police pursuit.”

The Peterborough Telegraph understands other police cars came to assist before the pursuit ended with a collision in Lincoln Road.

Insp Bill added: “The pursuit ended in Lincoln Road with a collision involving two police cars.

“A short time after that two persons were arrested and the car recovered. Four officers received injuries and are being treated accordingly.”

Insp Bill later confirmed that none of the injuries were serious.
