Third day of searches for missing Peterborough teenager Bernadette Walker

A third day of searches in Fenland countryside and at three Peterborough garages has been taking place today as police continue the hunt for missing Peterborough 17-year-old Bernadette Walker.

Searches in grassland and in the River Welland at Cowbit, and at garages in Churchfield Road, Walton, Peterborough started on Tuesday, and have continued for a third day today (Thursday).

Officers have been searching for Bernadette, and for any evidence of what had happened to her - but a police spokesman said there was currently no update on whether anything of interest had been found.

Bernadette’s parents, Sarah Walker (37) and Scott Walker (50) appeared at Peterborough Crown Court via video link yesterday charged with her murder.

No pleas were entered, and a trial date was sent for March next year

Bernadette was reported missing by her parents Sarah and Scott Walker on July 21 after she had not been seen for three days.

Police are still appealing for information to try and find out what happened to her, with the appeal focussing on July 18 - when Bernadette was last seen alive.

When she went missing, she was described as medium build, her hair was half brown, half gingery blonde with a streak of pink. She has facial piercings and two homemade tattoos. She wears glasses and is around 5ft 6in.

Anyone with information that can help the investigation is asked to contact Cambridgeshire police on 101.
