Teenage girl sexually assaulted on Peterborough footpath

A teenage girl was sexually assaulted as she walked on a Peterborough footpath yesterday morning (Wednesday).

The incident happened at about 11.30am in bushes close to Stagsden in Orton Goldhay.

The 17-year-old victim was walking along a footpath towards Overton Way in Orton Waterville when she was approached from behind by a man who pulled her into the bushes and assaulted her.

When the girl attempted to leave she was pushed to the ground and the offender walked away in the direction of Overton Way.

Detective Sergeant Mark Smith said: “Thankfully the girl wasn’t seriously injured, but she has been left extremely shaken by what has happened.

“I would urge anyone who may know who is responsible for this crime to contact police immediately.”

The man is described as white, aged 21 to 40, wearing a black jacket with a hood and jeans.
