Suspected illegal immigrants have been arrested at a service station in Peterborough.

Police were called to the Haddon Services on the A605 at 7.09am this morning (Monday) after reports about 12 immigrants were seen in the back of a lorry.

Five people have now been detained - four adults and a child.

Two people, a 31-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, have been taken to Thorpe Wood Police Station for questioning on suspicion on immigration offences.

Two people, a 36-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, are in custody at the Kings Lynn Police Investigation Centre (PIC).

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: “We were called to the services following reports of illegal immigrants in a lorry.

“We have detained a number of people, but some are outstanding.
“The police helicopter is searching for the others in near-by fields.

“Having spoken to border agency officials, the lorry driver will not be arrested.”
