Stamford antique dealer Stuart Porter denies fraud charges in first crown court appearance

The Stamford antiques dealer Stuart Porter is to face trial after denying charges of fraud and conspiracy to steal when he appeared before Lincoln Crown Court today (Monday, April 11).

Porter, 56, of Eskdale Avenue, Corby, together with Maxine Norris, 53, of Bourne Street, Netherfield, Nottingham, and Sophie Norris, 21, of Annandale Road, Hull, each denied conspiracy to steal furniture, jewellery, ceramics and antiques between January 1 and September 13, 2013.

All three also denied fraudulent trading between the same dates relating to the operation of Stuart Porter Antiques in Stamford.

Porter denied five further charges of fraud involving £83,000 on dates between January 1, 2011 and May 31, 2013.

All three were granted bail and the case was adjourned for a directions hearing to be held in June. No date was fixed for the trial.

No charges were put to a fourth defendant Dale Withers, 35, of Kirkhams Lane, Wisbech. He is also accused of conspiracy to steal.
