A family has been left devastated after thieves stole a number of sentimental items from their home in Peterborough.

The home in Berkeley Road, Netherton, was broken into on Friday evening (September 4) between 7.30pm and 10pm.

Offenders forced open a back door before ransacking the living room and bedrooms, taking sentimental jewellery from a jewellery box in the master bedroom.

A gift bag with a birthday card, £150 in cash and 500 Australian dollars, also caught the eye of the thieves, who took the money and left the bag and card behind.

Detective Constable Leigh Mann said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have been offered the jewellery for sale to get in touch – these items hold a lot of sentiment to the victims and they are deeply upset by what has happened.”
