Police were quite surprised when someone handed in a purse they had found in 1987 in Market Deeping.

The local policing team used the power of social media to try and establish who owned the purse and reunite the purse and contents back to where it belonged.

It didn't take long, enquiries were made, and we have been able to pass the purse back to it's rightful owner's husband.

Inspector Reid Martin, Community Policing Inspector, said: "We are delighted to have returned the purse and it’s contents. Although it took a while, a long while, for the purse to be handed in, it shows it’s never too late and I’m grateful we have been able to reunite the purse to the owners family."
