Police move residents on from Peterborough city centre as large number of people reported breaching distancing rules

Police are urging residents to continue to stay at home after they were called to deal with a large number of people in Peterborough city centre.

Dozens of people were seen breaching social distancing rules in Bridge Street today, with residents weaving through queues forming outside banks.

While most people in Peterborough stuck to social distancing rules over the weekend, police reiterated the call for people to stay at home, to help save lives.There were also concerns raised about social distancing in Lincoln Road over the weekend. A Cambridgeshire police spokeswoman said when they were made aware of areas of concern, they moved to move people on. The spokeswoman urged residents to follow government advice and stay at home, other than to deal with essential tasks.
