Police helicopter pursues man alleged to have fled collision scene near Peterborough

A police helicopter is helping officers pursue a man alleged to have fled the scene of a collision.

At about 11.40am today officers attempted to stop a vehicle near Upton.

The driver of the vehicle, a blue Peugeot 307, failed to stop and the officers began a pursuit.

A short time later the vehicle was involved in a collision with another car in Stamford Road heading towards Marholm.

Police claim that three men got out of the vehicle and fled the scene. Two of the men are now in custody and officers continue to search for the third.

The police helicopter is being used as part of efforts to locate the man, as is the dog unit.

Representatives from the ambulance service have attended the scene and a woman from the other vehicle has been taken to hospital.

Details of her injuries are unclear at this stage.
