Police Dispersal order invoked for Peterborough city centre tonight as officers anticipate large numbers

Anticipating high footfall in the city centre this evening, a Dispersal authority has been issued by Peterborough Police from 8pm tonight until 6am on Saturday 7th May.

The area this applies to is: Burghley Road – Monument Street – Eastfield Road – St John’s Street – Bishops Road – East Footpath along Peterborough Crown Court incorporating Key Theatre to River Embankment – North Side of River Nene West to Railway Bridge – East Side Rail Line North to Thorpe Road Bridge – North along East side of railway boundary incorporating Peterborough Railway Station and New Waitrose Supermarket – East along lower Mayors Walk – Bright Street – Lincoln Road North to Burghley Road.

Officers will be out and about in the City Centre tonight to enforce the order.

Cambridgeshire Police were asked for more information regarding the reason for the dispersal order tonight but said there was no definitive reason, but that it was a “power we can use as officers see fit.”
