Police cordon off road in Peterborough after violence breaks out

Police have cordoned off Cromwell Road in Peterborough this afternoon after violence broke out between a number of men.

Police and ambulance teams have been at the scene for much of the afternoon following the incident.Scenes of crime officers have now arrived on the road to carry out investigations.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 1.30pm today (2 October) with reports of violence in Cromwell Road, Peterborough.

“Police and ambulance crews are at the scene where it’s believed violence has broken out between two groups of men.

“Two men in their twenties and a 40-year-old man have been taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“Officers remain at the scene where an investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) said: “I can confirm that EEAST responded to an emergency call shortly after 13.30 regarding an incident on Cromwell Road, Millfield, Peterborough. We sent two ambulances, a rapid response car and an air ambulance to the scene. Three patients were treated on scene with two of those patients being transported to Peterborough City Hospital for further care.”

People are asked to avoid the area while emergency services work at the scene.
