Police are no longer investigating the case of a Peterborough pensioner being mugged near his home.
Muzaffar Chowdury (71) was left with a broken hip when he was assaulted in St Martins Street, Peterborough at about 5.30pm on Friday, January 30.
Mr Chowdury’s attacker stole the pensioner’s mobile phone - but the device was later discovered in bushes near the crime scene.
The former restaurant owner was able to give a description of his attacker, saying he was aged between 21 and 40, about 5’10” tall, of Asian appearance and was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and glasses with a thick, black rim.
But today a spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said: “This incident has been closed due to no further lines of enquiry and will remain on file. “This has been explained to the victim.”
