Police descended on Lincoln Road in Peterborough after a reported sighting of an armed man, only to find the weapon in question was a piece of woodwork made by a teenager.
A man on a bus called police at 1.40pm today (Tuesday, July 14) believing he had seen a man with a rifle in Lincoln Road.
Several officers were sent to the location, but after making enquiries they discovered the ‘weapon’ had in fact been a shotgun made by a teenager during a woodwork class which he then took outside.
A police spokesman said the class was held at the Millfield Playgroup.
The teen was given words of advice before officers left.
