Police appeal after high speed pursuit ends in Jeep crash

Police have appealed for witnesses after a high speed pursuit near Peterborough ended with a Jeep crashing into a ditch.

Police officers taking part in Operation Galileo - which is targeting hare coursing - said on social media that the high speed pursuit ended when a stinger device brought the Grand Cherokee Jeep to an eventual halt.

They said: “A Grand Cherokee led RCAT officers on a 32 mile pursuit starting at Holme at around 4pm to Chittering before it was stung at 5pm (on Saturday, September 12).

“The vehicle was driving dangerously in excess of the speed limit and showed a blatant disregard for the safety of the public.

“Even after being stung the vehicle continued without tyres until the driver lost control.

“Anyone with dashcam of the pursuit please get in touch.”

Police said three men were arrested, one of which had two outstanding warrants and one dog was seized.
