Peterborough robbery victim woke up in city street after brutal assault

A man who was assaulted in a brutal robbery in Peterborough woke up in a city street after being repeatedly punched in the head by the attacker.

The victim, who is in his 50s, was sitting in his black Vauxhall Astra in Park Road, between 11pm on Wednesday (28 October) and 3am on Thursday (29 October), when a man knocked on his window and asked for a cigarette.

The victim got out of the car to have a cigarette with the man when he was punched several times to the head and lower back.

He managed to get away and run towards Church Walk, where he woke up outside several hours later, disorientated.

He returned to where his car had been parked to find some of his personal belongings which were in a suitcase had been thrown into a nearby front garden of a house.

His car had been ransacked and some of its contents including the vehicle’s keys, two mobile phones, chargers, a tent, sleeping bag, clothes and personal documents stolen.

DS Shish Thind said: “This was a horrible incident which left the victim with a cut lip, bruised eye and a head injury resulting in him having no recollection of what the offender looked like.”
