Peterborough man charged with wielding axe at city convenience store appears in court

A man reported to be wielding an axe at a convenience store in Dogsthorpe has appeared in court.

Jason Parkinson (22) of Tilton Court, Welland, Peterborough, was charged with attempted robbery, possession of an axe in a public place and causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) after an incident on Friday lunchtime at AK Food Store in Central Avenue which left a member of staff with a broken arm.

Parkinson was remanded in custody to appear at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

He has now been remanded for a plea hearing at Peterborough Crown Court on May 15.
