Peterborough man arrested on suspicion of attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child

A man in Peterborough has been bailed pending an investigation after being arrested on suspicion of attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child.

The arrest comes after a video was posted on Facebook on Saturday (August 5) appearing to show members of a self-proclaimed group of ‘peadophile hunters,’ called Our Team, confronting a man outside a property in Peterborough.  
The video has been viewed nearly 80,000 times and appears to show members of the group confronting a man before Police officers arrive. 
Such groups work alone and are not affiliated with the Police in any way. 
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: “Officers were called to an address in Eye, Peterborough at about 11pm on Saturday (5 August) with reports of suspicious circumstances.
“A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child. He has since been released on police bail and an investigation is ongoing.”
