Obomighie, a director at Darrell Hill Ltd, pleaded guilty to false accounting and possession of articles to use in a fraud at the start of his trial at Peterborough Crown Court yesterday (Monday 16 May 2016).

He was sentenced to an 18-month community order, 160 hours of unpaid work and has to pay back the full £8,231 within six months.

Cheryl Burr, Assistant Director, Fraud Investigation Service, HMRC, said:“Obomighie manipulated the accounts of his business and drew up fraudulent invoices to steal taxpayers’ money to which he was not entitled. This is money that should have been funding vital public services.
