Sarah Walker, 37, and Scott Walker, 50, both of Century Square in Millfield have both been charged with their daughter’s murder after reporting her missing on July 21, having not seen her for three days.

Police have been carrying out inquiries ever since and on September 11, the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit launched a ‘no-body’ murder investigation.

While the street may have appeared to have returned to normal, neighbours have spoken of their shock following today’s events.

One told the Peterborough Telegraph: “It’s just really hard. I don’t know what to say or think.

“I’m in shock. I knew the family and it’s just a really difficult situation right now.

“I would never want to go through something like this.”

Another said: “It’s hard to imagine something like this happening right on your doorstep.

“The whole situation is really disturbing but these are only charges.

“I still have to have faith that the Police can find Bernadette alive and well.”
