MURDER INVESTIGATION: Tributes paid to 'amazing father' man dies after weekend attack in Peterborough

A pizza delivery driver and 'amazing father' who was attacked in a Peterborough street in the early hours of Sunday morning has died.

Ali Qasemi, 45, of Birchtree Avenue, Peterborough, was delivering pizzas when the attack happened in Shrewsbury Avenue, on Sunday, May 8.

He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, but sadly died yesterday afternoon, Tuesday May 10.

In a moving tribute to her husband, Mrs Qasemi said: “My husband was my everything; my best friend, my soul mate, my life partner and an amazing father. He was such a caring and helpful person and was always there for his family and friends.

“This is a very hard time for my family and our two children. We are expecting our third child and my heart aches that he won’t be here to see them all grow up.”

Police have confirmed theye are treating it as murder.

Yesterday, two men appeared at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court in connection with the assault.

Mark Lintott, 29, of Shrewsbury Avenue, Peterborough, and Joel Lawson, 25, of Goodhale Road, Norwich, were both charged with robbery. The latter was also charged with possession of cannabis.

Both have been remanded in custody to appear at Peterborough Crown Court on June 8.
