Mother and young children attacked in racially aggravated incident in Peterborough Asda

A woman and her two young children were attacked in a racially aggravated incident which took place inside Asda in Peterborough.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, was with her two children inside the store in Viersen Platz at about midday on Sunday, April 3, when the incident happened.

They were near the lifts, going into the homeware section, when one of the children heard a nearby man swear at their mum.

They carried on around the corner, passed the photo desk and into the baking isle, when the same man approached them and made threats of violence and racial comments.

Detective Constable Pete Wise said: “This was a particularly distressing ordeal for the victim and her two children who were minding their own business, doing some shopping, when the incident happened.

“I am particularly keen to speak with the man in the CCTV images and would urge anyone who knows him to contact police. I would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.”
