Market Deeping man arrested after toiletry bag full of cannabis was found with his name on

Callum Clark, 20, of Meadow Road, Market Deeping, admitted possessing 15g of cannabis in wraps with intent to supply in Dixons Road, Market Deeping on December 21.

He also admitted attempting to possess 10g of cannabis in prepared wraps with intent to supply it on February 16.

Prosecuting, Daniel Pietryka told Grantham magistrates on Monday that the toiletry bag was left on the ground and found by a woman who reported it to the police. It had Clark’s name in it and contained 12 wraps of cannabis and more cannabis in a metal tin.

Mr Pietryka said police went to Clark’s address where they found a further seven wraps of cannabis.

Clark admitted the wraps were his. He told police he had built up a debt and was struggling at work, so he wantedto sell the cannabis.

Mr Pietryka said: “He had already sold a couple of bags at £10 each and wanted to make between £20 and £30 profit from them all.”

Julian Sheen, defending, said Clark had been very ‘foolish and naive’ after getting into financial difficulties. He had lost his job and had broken his collarbone.

Mr Sheen said: “He has come to sell a few wraps to pay off his debt. He dropped the bag with his name on it. He says he is no longer selling drugs. He has learned his lesson.”

Clark, who now works at a butchers shop, was fined £210 for possession of the drug with intent to supply and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £21 victim surcharge.

There was no separate penalty for the other offence.
