Vitautas Jokubauskas will appear in court today, Thursday June 11, charged with carrying out the ‘body in a case’ murder in Peterborough.
Detectives have been questioning Lithuanian national Jokubauskas (57) since Sunday in connection with the murder of Ramute Butkiene since Sunday.
Jokubauskas will appear at Huntingdon Magistrates Court this morning.
The dismembered torso of mum of one Miss Butkiene (49) was found in a suitcase at an address in Mayor’s Walk, Peterborough on Friday.
Police have today released a picture of Miss Butkiene, and have been keeping her family informed with developments in the case.
Detectives have been searching in the city for missing body parts of the agency worker, and have made some progress in their investigation.
District Crown Prosecutor for East of England CPS, David Taylor said: “We have considered the evidence presented to us by Cambridgeshire Police and in line with the Code for Crown Prosecutors have made the decision that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest to charge Vitautas Jokubauskas with one count of murder. He will appear at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Thursday 11 June 2015.
“May I remind all concerned that Vitautas Jokubauskas has a right to a fair trial. It is very important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings. For these reasons, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further.”
