Man jailed after robbing woman at knifepoint in Werrington, Peterborough

A man has been jailed for four years for after robbing a woman at knifepoint in Peterborough.

Karl Liebscher, 37, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on Friday (July 8). Liebscher, of Morland Court, Peterborough had previously pleaded guilty to robbery.

The incident happened on May 8 this year at around 8am when Liebscher observed his 29-year-old victim using a cash machine close to Tesco petrol station in Werrington.

He followed her and threatened her with a knife, close to Sundance House. The victim tried to run away but tripped and fell, threatening her with the knife Liebscher demanded she hand over the cash and her phone.

The victim refused to give her phone up because it contained sentimental photos but gave him the cash. Liebscher took the cash and ran away.

The victim was left with minor injuries from the fall and shaken by the experience.

Local officers identified Liebscher through CCTV from the scene and he was arrested the following day.

DC Sarah Philips, who investigated, said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim and I am pleased she can now be reassured by the fact that Liebscher is behind bars.

“We take offences such as these extremely seriously and are committed to ensuring those responsible are found and brought to justice.”
