Police have cordoned off pavement on Oundle Road in Woodston, Peterborough following a fight last night (Tuesday).

The incident happened at about 9.50pm outside the Nisa shop.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: “A 49-year-old man from Peterborough was confronted by two men outside the Nisa store at about 9.50pm.

The offenders, described as white, between 21 and 40, and over six foot, assaulted the victim, causing him to fall to the floor and lose consciousness, as well as suffering a broken nose.

“The victim was taken to Peterborough City Hospital by ambulance for treatment but discharged himself an hour or so later.”

A police cordon was put in place, with scenes of crime officers attending in the morning.

The spokesman added: “Three men were present, in addition to the victim, however it is believed only two of the group were involved in the altercation with the victim.”

An East of England Ambulance service spokesman said they treated one patient, who was initially not alert, but was conscious and breathing, and was taken to Peterborough City Hospital.
