Man arrested following arson at Peterborough home which put lives at risk

A man has been arrested following an arson attack in Peterborough on Monday evening.

At about 10.30pm a property in Cromwell Road was targeted and it is believed a number of people were involved. Nobody was injured as a result of the incident.

Detective Inspector Dan Pawson said: “This was a very serious offence which fortunately did not result in any loss of life as the blaze was quickly spotted. The occupants of the address where the arson took place were able to escape unharmed but the consequences could have been fatal for both them and those in neighbouring properties.

“We believe this was a targeted attack as opposed to a random act of violence. It is vital we catch those responsible given the serious nature of this offence.”

A 22-year-old man from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of arson and making threats to kill. He has been released on bail until June 23.
