Man arrested after alleged serious assault in Peterborough street

A man suffered serious head injuries in an alleged assault in a Peterborough street.

The attack happened at about midnight in Star Road, Eastgate, Peterborough this morning (Wednesday).

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said: “A man in his 20s suffered serious injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains.

“A 25-year-old man from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) and is currently in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough.”

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “The East of England Ambulance Service Trust was called to an incident on Star Road at 12.13am today (23rd March).

“An ambulance, a Magpas car and an ambulance officer attended and treated one patient with a serious head injury.

“He was taken to Peterborough City Hospital for further care.”
