LATEST UPDATE: Peterborough street reopened and two arrested as man left in critical condition

Two men have been arrested after a man was left in a critical condition following an assault in Peterborough in the early hours of this morning, Sunday.

Police sealed off Shrewsbury Avenue in Woodston at 1.30am this morning after a man suffered serious injuries in what is thought to be a serious assault.

A 29-year-old man from Peterborough and a 25-year-old man from Norwich have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where he remains in a critical condition.

Shrewsbury Avenue was closed while investigations took place but reopened at 2.40pm.
