LATEST: Third Cambridgeshire school evacuated after bomb threat hoax as national total rises

A third school in Cambridgeshire has been evacuated and subsequently closed today, Monday May 23, following a bomb hoax.

Voyager Academy and Discovery Primary School were evacuated this morning and Discovery has been closed since lunch time. Police cordoned off Mountsteven Road in Walton.

Cambridgeshire police have now also been called to Mayfield Primary School, Warwick Road, in Cambridge following a threat to that school.

It too is being treated as a hoax but all pupils have been sent home.

There have now been at least 12 bomb hoax calls and evacuations at school throughout England today.

A message on the Discovery Primary School website said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have closed the school for the rest of the day. Please collect your children ASAP from Voyager.”

A message on the Voyager website reads: “You may be aware that there was an incident at both TVA and Discovery Primary School this morning. The Voyager are now back in school – business as usual.

“The Discovery Primary School have been moved to TVA at the moment – their parents have been advised to collect them from here.”
