Police reported on Sunday, December 3, that local officers were investigating the theft of handbag at the Co-Op store in Whittlesey.

The Policing Whittlesey Facebook page stated: “A second incident has occurred outside the Co-op Whittlesey, whereby another theft from person has taken place.

“As the victim was loading her car with shopping the offenders took their chance to take the handbag without the victim’s knowledge.

“Fortunately a member of the public witnessed this and challenged the offenders who threw the handbag back and drove off without taking anything.

“Police responded from Peterborough, Turves and Wisbech to flood the area and locate the offending parties.

“CCTV enquiries are ongoing as well as liaising with local shops to trace any witnesses who may have been in the area between 1900-1915 hours.”
